I apologize that I am unable to get on Facebook, but I can at least share here on the blog. I’m sitting here, at my desk, thinking about more than my mind can comprehend at one time; What am I doing? What am I going to do? What steps should I take? Will I take the right steps?
The truth is that some of the time we will not know what to do. We won’t know which steps we should take, or how we should take them. This is why reliance, absolute dependence on God remains so important in our lives. There comes a time when we have to grow beyond having our hand held and learn to walk steadily on our own, yes, but God does not rush us. We can take these steps comfortably, knowing that if we do happen to take the wrong steps He is still there to guide us.
To depend on God completely is to lose all trust in our own ability, and to grasp exclusively at His; not trusting in ourselves, but in Him Who nourishes us. He is our Creator, our Savior, the Author and the Finisher of our faith. It is Him Who enables us and gives us the strength to press through anything, no matter how afraid we may be, as long as we are courageous and take the steps trusting that He will keep His promise and uplift us.
We night be knocked down, but it is not indefinitely unless we allow it to be. He said to “be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.” (EPHESIANS 6:10) — “For I am the Lord your God
Who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” (ISAIAH 41:13)
We may not know what we are feeling, what we want, or what we should do; confusion may run rampant in us, but as long as we look to Him no confusion can ever overcome us because “God is not a God of confusion but of peace.” (1 CORINTHIANS 14:33) He is not the author of confusion, but of faith, and no matter what we face we can face it with courage because He has already overcome!
Our minds may be full of thoughts, and we may be encompassed by fear and confusion but as it says in (PSALM 56:3-4) “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You. In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid.”
I love this scripture! It is a testament to where our ability comes from, the direction in which we should go, and why we can face things with courage and a pure faith! “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You… in God I trust and am not afraid.” It isn’t in ourselves that we find the power to overcome fear, but in God! He IS the absence of our fear! When we are afraid, confused, feeling empty or broken, full of anxiety and worry, and when we feel overcome we can run to Him! Our “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” (PSALM 46:1)
We have a tendency to look at things in the human perspective, instead of looking at them in God’s perspective, but He told us not to do that when He said to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.” (PROVERBS 3:5) Telling us to set our minds on “things above, and not on earthly things,” (COLOSSIANS 3:2) because the “the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other.” (GALATIANS 5:17) So we have to make that choice to look to Him in every situation, and we do so by “looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (HEBREWS 12:2)
“Set your mind on things above, and not on earthly things,” He said. Of course we can look up to the sky if we want, but the only thing that is going to achieve is the burning of our eyes. Look to things that are better than the things on the Earth! Look to the things of God, things that can actually sustain you and uplift you and not the things that are temporary. We need to stop living a disposable faith, giving up and giving in every time we are afraid, and look to the God Who is eternal.
You see, He will let us make our own decisions, and will let us choose what we want, and as long as we are faithful to Him in it He will bless us in those things! When we are looking to Him to be what sustains us in the things that we do, and in how we live our lives, HE becomes what defines us; His characteristics become ours, we are made into an illustration of Him in this world! This is why we can absolutely count on Him to fulfill His promises to us, because how can He deny Himself and how can He neglect what is His? He is God, and He cannot; rather He will fulfill what is His!
We are allowed to choose the steps that we want to take in any area of our lives, but it is up to us to manage it faithfully and to the best of our ability; the ability that He gives us! Our God IS our ability!
Well I have to go for now, I actually have to work my last few days here so I probably shouldn’t write too much. I apologize that I am unable to get on Facebook, for those of you who usually speak to me on there, and that I am unable to answer my phone if you’re my family and you’ve tried calling me. In time, I will be back.
Have a blessed day, and week to come!
